"We're very excited to get started on our TR27, and we have high hopes for the regional competition." Yehia Elaby, Design Engineer
TORS is a STEM Racing team based at the International Programs School (IPS) in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. We design, build and race miniature Formula 1 cars. Last season we finished 3rd at regionals and 7th in the country.
Every part of the TORS logo is a shield inside a shield.
Across old Arabia, the tors was the shield a person carried to protect the people beside them. It stood for loyalty, for steadiness under pressure, and for holding your ground when it matters.
That is the team we want to be. Every member covers someone else's side of the work, and the car only reaches the start line because all of those sides hold together. The name is a reminder that nobody on this team races alone.
TORS competes in STEM Racing, the international competition where school teams run a real engineering project from start to finish. Teams design a miniature Formula 1 car in CAD, test it with simulation, manufacture it, and race it down a 20 metre track. Then they defend every decision in front of judges, alongside a portfolio, a pit display and a business plan.
The TORS logo was designed as a shield made of shields, the same way the team is made of departments that protect each other.
It starts with one big shield. Project management is the outer layer: the plan, the timeline and the budget that every department works inside.
Inside it sits a smaller shield on the left for enterprise. Branding, sponsors and the business side give the team the support it needs to race.
On the right is a matching shield for engineering. Design, testing and manufacturing turn ideas into a car on the track.
Running through the middle is the letter "T" for TORS. It ties both sides together and holds the whole mark upright.
Across the top runs an arrow pointing forward. It stands for a team that keeps growing and keeps moving together, cycle after cycle.
Put together, the three shields, the T and the arrow make one mark: TORS.
CAD design, aerodynamic simulation, testing and manufacturing. Every surface of the car has to earn its place within the rules, then survive launch after launch on the track.
The plan that holds everything together: timelines, budgets, deadlines and making sure every department delivers on time.
Branding, sponsorship and the business side of running a team, from first pitch to final budget.
The portfolio, the pit display and the verbal presentation, where the team explains what it built and why.

TORS raced its first season in the 2024/25 cycle and made it to the regional final.
The team built its first car from nothing: a name, a logo and a group of students who wanted to see how far it could go. The regional final was as far as it went that year. TORS did not advance.

Two World Finals teams joined together and brought the TORS name back.
Sadeem had finished 6th at the STEM Racing World Finals. Rimah had finished 10th. At the start of the 2025/26 cycle, members of both teams combined into one, and they chose to race under the TORS name.
After we lost at regionals with TORS Racing, I went to Sadeem, and we finished 6th at the World Finals, which was amazing. That's where I started planning with the members of Rimah to come back as one team, but we could never decide which team to come back as, Sadeem or Rimah. Then we landed on the idea of bringing back the TORS identity as a merger between my team and theirs. The rest is history.

The new TORS finished 3rd at regionals and qualified for the national final.
One cycle after going out at the regional stage, TORS came back to the same competition with the TR26 and left with a 3rd place trophy and a place at nationals.
The night we stayed up before regionals was stressful, but we were determined. The car came out exactly how we planned, and our warrior brought home the third-place award. I couldn't have been prouder to be part of TORS.

At the national final, TORS raced Pac-Man and finished 7th in the country.
Designing Pac-Man with my head engineer, Hamza Abu Hajar, was an amazing journey, and so was racing nationals together. On track, Pac-Man placed 11th in the country. Not our best, but it drove us to work harder.
Seventh in the country. The shield is back for more.
The 2026/27 cycle hasn't started yet.
The new team is coming together and the season starts soon. This part of the story gets written as the cycle happens.
